another Robin Hood Movie?
Why did anyone think we needed another Robin Hood Movie?
Haven't scriptwriters and directors worked over the legend (and it is all legend, no substance) enough?
This is sight unseen, of course.

Re: another Robin Hood Movie?
I have yet to see the movie but I am half way through the book that the movie is based on and its a fun read, so I am going to guess that it will be a good movie even if its been told over and over and over and well you get the idea and yes I will see the movie.

Re: another Robin Hood Movie?
What are you talking about? Is there going to be another Robin Hood movie?
I am not sure how I would like or dislike another Robin Hood movie. It really depends on how it was done.
SOME movies, that I though for sure I would just love, I ended up totally disappointed in and hating like the most recent "Star Trek" movie, which was a total abortion, or Star Wars Episode III (the one where Anikin becomes Darth Vader.) That movie HAD a good storyline, COULD have been so so so much better IF ONLY the damn script writers had not written Anikin's character so horribly unbelievable. That truly was an excellent movie, totally ruined by some STUPID writing.
So.... as for the "Robin Hood" character and story. I suppose there have been a lot of movies and a TV series on Robin Hood. I own the series on DVD and truly like it, it really is pretty good work considering it was produced in the 50's. Remeber the song?
"Robin Hood Robin Hood riding through the glenn..."
Well, I LIKE the story of Robin Hood. I like the story a lot. But any movie made about one of my favorite hero characters would have to come up to a high standard for me to like that movie. So now I am eager to know more about any new Robin Hood movie.

I saw Kevin Costner's Robin Hood and wish I hadn't. The new one with Russell Crowe can't be as bad as that.
I still prefer Errol Flynn as Robin Hood.

In Costner's Robin Hood, there's an extended "rape" scene at the end where the Sheriff of Nottingham is trying to impregnate Maid Marion and he never seems to die. He's like the energizer bunny. Now I'm at the movies with my brother's four kids (We thought it was a kids movie), my Mother and Sister-in-law as this scene goes on, the theater (filled with adults and kids) is silent. Obviously nervous because this forced sex thing is going on too long on the screen. So I go mouthing off in what I thought was a whisper -- "Is he dead yet" and it echoes.
Every adult in that room wanted to kill me. Every kid in that room giggled obscenely. I wanted to slid to the floor and hide.

Re: another Robin Hood Movie?
Sing with me:
"We're men, we're men in tights.
We roam around the forest looking for fights.
We're men, we're men in tights.
We rob from the rich and give to the poor, that's right!
We may look like sissies, but watch what you say or else we'll put out your lights!
We're men, we're men in tights,
Always on guard defending the people's rights.
[Dance number, chorus line style]
We're men, MANLY men, we're men in tights. Yeah!
We roam around the forest looking for fights.
We're men, we're men in tights.
We rob from the rich and give to the poor, that's right!
We may look like pansies, but don't get us wrong or else we'll put out your lights.
We're men, we're men in tights (TIGHT tights),
Always on guard defending the people's rights.
When you're in a fix just call for the men in tights!
We're butch."

Re: another Robin Hood Movie?
probably just a movie appropriate for the times is all, the kevin costner Robin Hood movie came out when the country was poor as hell but rich people were really rich.... since then weve had loads of movies based around some kind of quarrantine whilst weve had loads of epidemic scares with different viruses.... now we're back in the situation where poor people are really poor and rich people are stinking rich again.... appropriate movies for the times i guess?..... if only someone would step up to the job of robin hood in real life

Re: another Robin Hood Movie?
Two things about Robin Hood movies:
1. Prince John always gets a raw deal. The poor fellow was trying to hold England together while his irresponsible brother King Richard the Lionheart was messing around in the crusades. I suggest the crusades are the most pointless military adventures that England has ever got involved in. Also Prince John was the fellow who gave the English speaking world the Magna Carta.
2. The best Sheriff of Nottingham in any Robin Hood movie has been Alan Rickman. I loved his villain with a dry sense of humour.
And apart from that who is Russell Crowe? Wasnt he one of those uncouth Scots who mooned us in Braveheart?
