I've been reading some of the older stories in EA and have come across some that have numerous problems including spelling, grammar, spacing, etc. I can download them and fix them up for my personal use, but it seems a shame that no one else gets the benefit of my efforts. I was wondering if it is permissible to submit my rewrite/edit of the story as a "fix" of the original story.
I realize that the original author should be contacted, but many of the stories that could use fixing are either anonymous or have an invalid email address. Thank you for your advice.

I would like to see this feature too. I've found a few small typos in some of the stories I've submitted and it would be cool to be able to go in and fix them.
Amazing to me how sometimes, even after spell-checking and proofreading (more than once), a typo or two can still survive!

Re: Rewriting/editing previously posted stories
I would also like to be able to replace an already posted story by a fix or improvement of it. Just like Prudence, I tend to find additional typos in my stories when I re-read them some time later, typos which I did NOT see when I proofread them before posting. Also, sometimes an idea comes up that could be built into an existing story to polish it.
I think that major reworks should be posted as new stories, but it should be possible to do bugfixes and minor improvements to already posted stories. This feature should be available by default ONLY to the authors, but in the case of anonymous or orphaned stories the archive bosses should be able to appoint selected writers to do that work.

Bug fixes, perhaps. Improvements are where it gets problematic, who determines what an improvement is? The original author wrote the story as it is now, anything added to or taken away from it would be someone else interjecting their own thoughts into a story.

Re: Rewriting/editing previously posted stories
As a general rule, once a story is posted, that's it. Doing edits and replacing stories, and fix ups take a lot of work just in the handling. We have to actually go into the code, locate a story in the database, and do over-writes. The system tends not to like us messing with it - so we generally don't unless it is critical. Besides, there usually isn't enough time in the day to deal with it all. Sorry.

Writing as someone who struggles even with 'easy-to-use' intuitive software I have no trouble accepting that.
However when the archive gets around to publishing the Bumper Book of Castration Stories it would be nice if the authors had the chance to polish some of their stories.
