New HRT regime
After about 7 or 8 yrs on Androgel 1%, I've finally embarked on a new regime at the suggestion of a pharmacist: Testosterone 50 mg/0.5ml in Versabase. It's a compound formulated by a compounding pharmacy near Victoria, BC. It's much simpler to use - just one squirt onto the forearm and then rubbed in by rubbing the forearms together. One of the best parts is cost: $70 CAD for 3 mos vs about $450 CAD for 3 mos of Androgel. It doesn't make that much difference to me personally because 80% of my costs are refunded under my drug plan, but it might make a huge difference for those without the same benefit plans. I've remained sexually active w/o balls for over 10 years now.

Re: New HRT regime
I read that there is a new one called "Testopel"
which is an under-the-skin pellet good for several
months.

Thats great Jeff. Compounding pharmacies have been doing this for a long time and they have a variety of ways to make it work. (Different creams/gels to absorb better etc)

Re: New HRT regime
Another advantage to compounded stuff is they can add other things to make a more complete treatment. can add DHT, Vitamins, and such.
I was on Androgel for about a year before switching to shots. For me weekly shots are more convenient than daily applications.

For sure! This isn't of course necessarily a barrier for anyone experiencing hypogonadism, including those w/o testicles.

Yes. The makers of Androgel really market the stuff intensely through physicians, including discount programs, etc.
