I think I'm qualified to contribute something to this thread.
I've been on estrogen for well over 4 years now. First on orals taking a dosage of 8 mg.'s a day, but when my endo could not get my estrogen levels up to where he wanted them, he switched me over to injectables a little over 2 years ago. I now take 0.3 cc's of estrodiol weekly. My current hormone levels are 422 for estrogen and 33 for testosterone.
I'm also post operative so the testosterone that's in my system is being produced by my adrenal glands. BTW, normal female levels for testosterone are between 20 and 70.
As far as my sex drive, I haven't really noticed much change in this area. This probably comes from the fact that I am and have always been a transgendered woman and never had what could be considered a normal male sex drive.
When I first started hormone therapy I could still achieve an erection as well as orgasm, but that soon faded away after castration and as the estrogen began to take hold of me. It finally got to the point that for at least 8 months prior to my surgery, my "boy parts" were only good for peeing, nothing else.
It wasn't long after I began hormone therapy, which at first consisted of 200 mg.'s of spiro and 8 mg.'s of estrogen, I could feel some very definite changes come over me. No more aggression, greatly reduced mood swings, felt more compassion and no more anger. My spouse began to pick up on the changes in me within 10 days of starting and these were just the mental effects. The physical effects began after about 6 weeks.

Dr Bowers (A M2F TS person) said that many TS women never end up being sexual active. This puzzled me as my female wife is not indifferent to sex at all. And in fact almost all the women I've known are "pro" sex. The issue may well be that most M2F people do not try to balance all their hormones for natural female levels. The missing component is Testosterone in small amounts. Since they all had to go through great efforts to have their testosterone levels shut down it probably seems insane to start taking it but.... I think to experience a more accurate female life you need all the hormones in the normal female levels.
MrT
Mr. T, I believe what Dr. Bowers is talking about when she mentioned being sexual active comes from the fact that being a transgendered woman somehow turns a lot of straight men off about us, no matter how we look or act. It takes a special kind or man to see and appreciate the woman we really are and most guys just don't seem to be that way. I think it's the testosterone thing.

Most "tranny chasers" aren't interested in us either because they're looking for that "girl with a stick", which being post op, I can't provide for them. So it kind of leaves most of us in a state of limbo or somewhere in between the norms of society's definition of male or female.
