Self injections

Post by iBorg317 (imported) »

I'm a medical eunuch with testicles that produce almost no testosterone. I need HRT to be mentally stable. My partner and I don't seem to connect on schedule for my injections. Anyone self inject? If so, can you provide guidance?

Thanks,

iBorg

I've known a number of people who are diabetic and inject insulin but I never asked about it. Perhaps they could help you with advice about injections.

If a doctor prescribes the hormones ask him or her to show you how to self inject. I have been injecting myself and several other needlephobic trans folk for years. Or if you are getting them off the internet see this site.

http://www.uwhealth.org/healthfacts/B_E ... 07779.html

"How to Give Yourself Intramuscular (IM) Injections

You can give yourself Intramuscular injections at home safely and accurately with proper care and technique. The handout will guide you through the steps to give yourself an injection. If you have any questions or concerns, please ask your health care provider."

or just Google "give yourself an injection"

This is very good information and I suggest following it. I manage to shoot myself in the ass as I can do this using the big bathroom mirror to see what I am doing. This approach works well for those who are able to function from a mirror image.

I have had good success injecting myself in the large muscles of the upper leg. With a little practice it is quick and painless, even with the large bore needles needed for testosterone injections. --FLO--

I draw the testosterone with a 18 gauge (Large) needle. Then I swap it for a 25 Gauge and do the injections. Injections are far more comfortable with the smaller gauge needles. *I used 16, 23 and 25s. The 16 were a horror show, the 23 ok and the 25 close to being totally painless.

You can inject into the upper thigh as Uncle suggests and that will work fine. Rotate legs and where on the legs you inject. There is an excellent check list

p.s. 7 to 10 days and inject between 100 to 200mg. You will need to try an amount give it a few weeks to a month to see how well it works then get labs done to be sure your not over the normal range then adjust.

Ask your significant other to note changes in your mood, energy, sexual drive etc. Take notes yourself but beware that all of this may seen "normal"

Beware that mental clarity and full sex drive seem to take longer to come back then the mood, energy etc. (Months!)

Good luck and work with your doctor to get it right. :)

A couple of things that make injections easier for me. First rub the area hard with the swab *In circles going out btw. You may wish to try giving the area a hard slap btw. That seems to make the injection easy. You can also try taking an ice cube and rib that around the area first then swab then inject.

I find the muscles need to be really loose and relaxed. And for me (At least) I find it much easier to go slow injecting and fast pulling it out. I saw that if you leave the needle in for a while there is less testosterone that oozes out.
