Is the Eunuch Archive Dead?

Just did a Google search for "Eunuch Archive," and it came right up. Search for "eunuch stories," and "eunuch archive" is listed as a related search at the bottom of the page. Search for "eunuch," and Eunuch Archive heads the fifth page of results. Of course, not many people reach the fifth page.

Please excuse me if all these things have already been done, or discarded as goofy, or if they're too much trouble. I'm just trying to be helpful.

Checked the search in google and on keyword "eunuch" got eunuch archive on the first page. Bing - gave me almost the same picture.

Interesting. I just did the search again, and EA's not on the first page. Rankings may change from second to second, but they shouldn't move that much. Wonder what's happening.

I've actually been aware of, and have visited the EA over 13 years ago. It is only in the past couple of years have I finally felt knowledgable enough about trans issues, physical body disphoria and related issues to begin posting on the forums.

Well, in Canada it comes up as first item in search for the words eunuch archive. However, a search of just the word eunuch it doesn't even show up on the first 10 pages. I think that is different than it was before. I understand that news stories and articles from big news outlets and popular sites would probably get ranked higher than the archive, but it does seem like it is lower than I would expect.

And with a search of the word castration, a site like burdizzocastration.com comes up on second page, but I can't find EA coming up in first several pages which doesn't seem right. But a search for the words castration dominatrix we come up in second hit on first page.

What I suspect happened is that Google did deprecate us from the results for common words, but still allowed returns for fairly targeted search. In other words, you can find us if you know to look for us, or if you know some specific content, but in a general search you might have trouble. I believe that is in line with what I've heard Google do in other cases -- like the monkey picture of Michele Obama. You can still find it, but it is not thrown up as a top response.

Because there were complaints, and I have to admit that from an outsider's view the Story section alone would raise some questions. Plus, they probably assume that there is not enough of us willing to go public with our association with the Archive to pose any real opposition.

In other words, a small publicly vocal group is going to win against a larger anonymous group.

There are far worse things easy to find. Search engines aren't suppose to censor or be censored. Look at Google's recent spat with the government of China. Ugliness is in the eye of the beholder, and the Chinese government won't allow any criticism of itself to be seen. Wonder if you can get EA in China.

Yes, you can get EA in China - we have quite a few members from there.

Some German Council on kids complained and got EA banned in Germany. When they issued the judgment and demanded that Goggle and Bung ban us, rather than just doing it in Germany, they did it across the board. Very short version.

he Rhein-Neckar-Kreis Youth Welfare Office in Heidelberg, Germany which filed a complaint with Google that the EA was corrupting youth and demanded that it be blocked from access in Germany. Google responded by blocking us

both in Germany and the U.S.

and they have not deigned to respond to any of our letters to them.

I had thought that we had banned entirely from Google, but I’m pleased to know that we are available in China and Russia. I need to check elsewhere to see if we’re still listed.

I have checked the Japanese version of Google, where we don’t come up in the first five pages under either the English or the Japanese term, though the Korean soap opera “The King and I” about the most famous eunuch in Korean history is near the top of page one in the ENGLISH version (though in Korean language text) and is nowhere to be found under the Japanese term “kangan” even though the two languages use the same Chinese characters for “eunuch.”

Before the German complaint, the Eunuch Archive was the second listed item if you just searched the single word “eunuch” in the U.S. version of Google. The Wikipedia article held first place.
