Over the years of its existence, the Eunuch Archive has alternated between very active episodes and very quiet episodes. We are currently in a quiet one, though there are certainly some new members who are making interesting observations and/or asking new and interesting questions. Graylayer, Punkypink, and Moi come immediately to mind. A few stalwarts are still very active and making important contributions, such as A-1, Bobbie, Paolo, Tugon, and Uncle Flo.

One reason for the quiescence is probably just that a number of formerly active members have satisfied their needs and moved on to other pursuits. Another might be that the Eunuch Archive is no longer indexed by Google and it not available on a Google search for “eunuch,” where it was formerly the second-listed item after the Wikipedia article (which does have a footnote link to the EA). The Rhein-Neckar-Kreis Youth Welfare Office in Heidelberg, Germany filed a complaint with Google that the EA was corrupting youth and demanded that it be blocked from access in Germany. Google responded by blocking us entirely and they have not deigned to respond to any of our letters to them requesting a reconsideration.

Formerly very active members who are seldom on the Archive (other than the Deep, Dark Cellar and the Political Discussions for a couple of them) include Talula, IEunuch, Riverwind, Philip, Thefraj, Randy, Jemagirl, Andrew, and many others. They made valuable contributions in their time, but need to be replaced by other, new, active members.

Someone like amm_uk (or anyone else), who wants to see a more active Archive, needs to post more himself. He should tell us more about himself and/or ask some interesting questions that we need to explore here. There are still many questions which no one has asked of the assembled members.

If you look at the “Currently Active Users,” there are always many times more unregistered viewers of the Archive than there are registered members on the board. Of the 3,977 currently registered members of the EA, only about 150 have made more then 100 posts. Only about a quarter of the registered members have ever made even a single post.

The Eunuch Archive is what it’s members make of it. If you want it to be active, YOU need to become active.

While it is certainly the variety of personalities and viewpoints that makes the Archive interesting, much of the burden (and excitement) of writing and posting has been borne by only a few of the active members. Only a very small percentage of those who read the Archive, some of them probably quite regularly (though there is no way to check), register as members. Only about a quarter of those who do register ever post even a single comment.

The most prolific and active members account for a very high percentage of all posts here. A-1, our most prolific with 5,398 posts, has made 4.72% of ALL posts. Our top five posters, which then includes Paolo, Kristoff, Riverwind, and Blaise (who is now inactive) account for 19.04% of all posts on the Archive, and the top ten posters account for 26.93%.

That’s 0.25% of the members doing 26.93% of the work of keeping this place going. If you want a more interesting and exciting Eunuch Archive, it’s up to YOU to get busy and write.

I don't mean to state this too boldly, but as a side-note, I found the title of this thread a bit bothersome.

Fox "news" and other media have a tendency lately to use exactly this kind of headline, as it allows them to say/accuse/insinuate absolutely anything, without being beholden to slander/libel laws.

"Obama a Queer Pedo Lamb-Fucker....???" would be a perfectly acceptable headline; they aren't saying he dips his wick into the cunnys of foolish virgin sheepies, after all.

Anyway... as a casual member (is that like a soft dick?), I find it bizarre to ask if this board is dead.

Of course it's not. Perhaps there are not a hundred posts a day every day, but as a general average, this site is as lively and vibrant as almost any that I visit online.

I get the point, though... there are less posts daily than in previous years, but... dead?

Come on.

The Eunuch Archive is alive and well. I'm the Eunuch Archive, and though I may look dead, I'm alive. Well, at least as alive as those two OLD buzzards, A-1 and River.

Seems alive and well and kicking to me.

Well, ok I noticed LOADS of US-only political threads lately, but other than that, business as usual.
