Antonia's accident

I receivied news that Antonia has had a serious accident flying a micro-lite aircraft. The last I heard was that she is still in intensive care.

So let us all wish her the best recovers.

I was starting to wonder why I hadn't heard from Antonia for over a week and a half.

I hope she recovers alright.

Antonia is no longer in intensive care luckily.

What happened was is she was getting instructions for paragliding. Unfortunately there were trees on the training field, so when the wind drove her towards a tree she tried to steer clear of it...BUT landed on the crown of the tree, sitting on a branch. So far so good.... The chute however pulled her to the ground, where she landed on her head!.

Her injuries are quite heavy; 3 broken ribs, one fractured neck vertibree. Good news was that the fractures aren't that bad ( will heal up ).

The reason she was in the ICU was becuase one of the ribs cuased an internal bleeding of a lung.

At the moment she's out of the ICU and doing better each day.

No idea when she'll be released from hospital.

Please don't block her email with loads of emails/ecards; she might not be able to empty her hotmail account!.

I'm sure she'll be ok again in a few weeks! (she's a tough cookie LOL)

Well, if we honor your request to not overload her e-mail box, I hope you will pass on to her our best wishes for recovery. I am sure the entire active membership of The EA wants her to get well so we can read her delightful contributions again.

Well I did chat with antonia for a bit earllier today. She is out of the hospital.

I wish her a speedy recovery.

This is really very sweet of you....

I am out of hospital and on my way to full recovery.

The problem with the broken ribs is it takes time and is very painfull. The internal bleeding seems to have stoped but breathing is still very painfull and difficult.

I was very surprised to read this and know your good wishes come from heart and give me strength and do wonders for my recovery. I will feed my little soul with your good thoughts.
