Since there were more castrations being done, the price had dropped, and special clinics were in operation. And on that special day I was in the waiting room, on a medical bed, awaiting the start of the procedure, when a Nurse walked in and asked if I would like a blow job before the operation, to relax me. I said OK, she gave me the blow job, and I waited to be wheeled into operation room #1. While I was waiting, another man was wheeled in, to be later wheeled into operation room #2. They are medical insurance plans. Blue Cross is the old traditional medical plan. HMOs (Health Maintenance Organizations) are the newer total care preventative plans, sometimes with more qualifying restrictions.

Actually, Richard's confusion comes from the fact that they have government funded medical in the UK. In the United States we are left to the whims of the people in the health "insurance" industry.

So to answer his question, Blue Cross is one of a multitude of companies that provide health "insurance" for a fee. Basically privately funded health care.

there's nothing quite like a a secretary with a High School diploma, a medical dictionary and a code book making the decision if the COMPANY can afford paying for the medicine or treatment that might save your life.

Everyone knows how greedy doctors are and how they do procedures for no reason. At east everyone in an Insurance company does, anyway!

I guess that the UK is lucky in a way that we have a goverment funded health authority even though it sucks and people wait years for vital ops

Things really are not all that different here. See A-1's post. We have a similar problem on it is usually that secretary without the medical education making the decisions for the hospitals and doctors.

If I needed a heart operation they would stall until I died because that would be cheaper to the company. In other words, they don't give a F**K about your life.

Oh yes the joys of medical insurance, I don't care what the insurance company pays the doctor or what the doctor charges as long as my co-pay stays at $10, I really don't care. On the flip side there is a lot to be said for government paid medical. higher taxes, less service, treatment at the whim of who is in office reather than a Doctor. Anyway, it dosen't matter if you have blue cross, or HMO or PPO or other private plans like Kaiser.
