Here is the question.
I do not know what to choose.
Androcur: it works, but it is a daily pill and it is expensive.
Depo - on plus side - it is taken biweekly - easier, and much cheaper.
On the negative - it is a shot, and it is "unknown variable" to me.
So I do not know what to choose. Any suggestions or thoughts welcome.

Re: Androcur vs depo provera
I was on depo-provera for two years on Androcur for another year (still on). There are plenty of posts on both on here, and both meds seem to have similar effects. Cost-wise depo-Provera is more (at least in the US) and most seem to be OK with monthly 150mg injections. Based on posts, Androcur (CPA) doseage varies with individuals . I found at one 50mg pill a day pretty much killed lido -- making it only slightly more expensive.
Hope this helps,
Don

Re: Androcur vs depo provera
Well for me not takeing a daily pill was well worth trying out the depo first. But I still had a decentley large sex drive, eventuly upped my dose to one shot a week. Was takeing it that often for about 2 months still had some drive and started takeing androcur with it which quickley killed my drive. So once a month $25 is not bad at all. 4 times a month $100 the pill is looking cheeper. Also since they work on the body in diffrent ways your system might better to one then the other. Im looking at starting chemical castration again and am still not sure which of the two to go with.

Re: Androcur vs depo provera
Thank you all for the answers.
Depo here costs about 5$ for a shot. (If I searched correctly).
Androcur - around 50$ for 20 pills (50mg).
So, six months cost is for depo:
2 initial shots + 2 shots a month = 14 shots, 70$
For androcur:
1 month on 100mg/day + 5 months at 50mg/day =
210 pills of 50mg = 550$
both affordable, but depo looks cheaper, much cheaper.

Re: Androcur vs depo provera
I pay $115 for 100 50mg tabs of siterone from inhousepharmacy.com. That's a $1.15/day for a maintenance dose. Depo Provera is $25 a shot per month, or 83 cents a day for a maintenance dosage, a daily savings of 32 cents. However, with DP you have to contend with shots, which can be problematic if you don't have a willing partner to give them to you and you do not want to do it yourself.
