I'm not medically recognized as paranoid, but perhaps I should be.
I've begun today, after much research, taking 25mg of spironolactone. I'm only 110 pounds, not an ounce of fat on me. About an hour in, I started to experience tiredness. I blamed it on placebo and, I figured, maybe it was just being introduced to my body. No problem.
But now I feel a weakness and heaviness in the legs, particularly calf.
spironolactone may increase the amount of potassium in your blood. Stop using spironolactone and check with your doctor right away if you are having abdominal pain; confusion; difficult breathing; irregular heartbeat; nausea or vomiting; nervousness; numbness or tingling in hands, feet, or lips; shortness of breath; or weakness or heaviness of legs .
There was a small amount of head fatigue, but I blame smoking yesterday. (probably not a great idea, oh well) I want to know if I should be worried. I was watching my potassium just finely, I haven't had a drastic amount and it's only 25mg. (though I am small) I wonder if this is mostly placebo and if anyone could tell me the feeling in the legs simply goes away.
It's pretty important to me, I want to pretty much get rid of my libido and in general be more at peace. More calm. Tell me what you all think. For now I'm going to drink lots of water and continue the spiro...
Edit: I can't breathe incredibly deeply. I wonder if I'm just causing myself the stress. I shouldn't have smoked yesterday and I should've gotten a blood test to be sure of everything. I don't think I'll take them tomorrow after all. Tell me what you guys think anyway...
Edit 2: Just relaxing and my symptoms seem to be better but I can kinda feel a weakness in the hands. .___.;

Re: Spironolactone and paranoia...
You wouldnt notice any side effects after taking one dose, and that is the weakest of the anti-androgens and an extremely small dose at that. Unless you are actually allergic to the medication you are just freaking yourself out, maybe you arent ready for the experience.

Thank you for quelling some of my fears, David. I have talked with others and it seems I am just freaking myself out. I'm definitely ready to live this way, I just get so paranoid over everything. I'm not allergic to a whole lot and even if I am, well, I'll be getting hives soon enough anyway.

Go call a nurse hotline a.s.a.p. Every city has them 24/7. Go see a doctor a.s.a.p. I have experienced many,many panic attacks and I think you are stressing yourself out. I won't make any medical suggestions because I have no education/experience in the medical field. Stay with this...the body ordinarily adapts from my experience with anti stress meds like xanax or lorazepam.

You made no mention of your blood pressure. Spiro is a potassium sparing diuretic, used to treat some types of high blood pressure. Many very thin individuals have low blood pressure. If you are taking spiro on top of low blood pressure the symptoms could be similar to what you describe, though as mentioned above 25 mg is a pretty low dose.

Re: Spironolactone and paranoia...
Thank you for the concern, bobber, but I don't think I'm having a panic attack. In fact, I've been trying to be calmer in general.
I was wondering about the blood pressure a bit, Transward, and my grandmother actually has a little device that does it just like the doctors. (she was a nurse) I'll be seeing her within the week. As you've said, it is a low dose, and I haven't had a problem with blood pressure in the past. I'll definitely keep it in mind.
Thanks for all the support so far, folks. I think I was mostly just freaking myself out.
