Re: Hey, Blizzard Members. Can You Get Online?
I used to have a little short legged Cairn Terrier. He would jump off the back steps into the snow and then flail away resting on his belly and with his legs going like crazy and making no headway at all. At the moment I have 35 inches of snow between me and the cars with about four feet of snow piled up against the front of the cars. The city streets around me are not plowed. We have many less trucks and drivers to move snow than we had five years ago. --FLO--

I had a ten pound silky terrier (cousin to a yorkie) who after the first try at walking through snow deeper than his legs, wouldn't do it again. In deep snows I had to sweep or shovel the veranda and then clean up the dumps after he finished. Tire tracks worked for him too. But not that snow on his tummy. What a little spoiled beast he was.

I'm enjoying my 65 degree, no snow winter. Riverwind should move back here.

No Way, I love the snow in the winter, the cold I could do without but I love the snow, we got about 2ft here and today it got up to 7F, that's -14c and 60cm of snow. that was the high, lows were -5F or -20C not counting wind chill.
Nelly must go out, she does not like it but she is a dog and that's the way it is, now Rupert on the other hand wants to go outside, right up until he sniffs the air, then he does this kind of nose twitching thing with a shiver and a paw shake and bolts for the back room.
I love winter,

I'd love to know how cats handle the blizzard life.
My Milwaukee cat behaved as Rupert.
I've known dogs to behave as Nelly but, I imagine there are some that would love a good snow frolic as labs love a water frolic.
I hear more COLD is a-comin' for River.
Really, really cold while we in Paradise are promised a little rain this weekend.
79 / 54 today, go figure you metrics.
But as I gazed across the forecast I came across a
"Severe Weather Alert"
"DENSE FOG ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM PST TUESDAY...
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SAN DIEGO HAS ISSUED A DENSE FOG
ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM PST TUESDAY.
* LOCATION: SAN DIEGO COUNTY AND ORANGE COUNTY COASTAL AREAS.
* TIMING: THE DENSE FOG WILL ARRIVE BETWEEN 930 PM AND 1030 PM AT
MOST OF THE BEACHES AND SPREAD A FEW MILES INLAND BY MIDNIGHT.
THE DENSE FOG WILL SPREAD OVER THE MESAS AFTER 200 AM. AREAS OF
DENSE FOG WILL LIKELY REMAIN UNTIL MID-MORNING TUESDAY. <edit>
Before writing this I noticed the air had a sweet, salty smell, but clear.

When fog / water droplets combine with a gaseous oxide or sulfur or nitrogen, y'got sulfuric acid or nitric acid. Acid fog.

No it is a pleasant, salt smelling fog as has moved in since my last upload.
I fear when the water droplets combine with particulates and / or oxides of nitrogen or sulfur.
Then we have iddy-biddy water droplets carrying more particulates then the same volume of dry air.
Also, those oxides of sulfer and nitrogen combine with water to make, sulfuric acid and nitric acid. Acid fog.
This is a clean fog. I know because it breaths well and does not require me to pull out my asthma inhaler as some fogs do. Gov't does not measure fog factors!
Corona del Mar a nearby beach community had one of the most acid fogs on record.
http://books.google.com/books?id=SY3Kfe ... 22&f=false
Although this was 1982, currently no standard smog investigation has included Acid Fog nor the particulates as may be further suspended in fog.
Inhaler using asthmatics know the difference.
Like diesel particulates, the Gov't just does not want to face up to it.
Beware The Fog. The next particulates as in face up to it Gov't.

Mac, you know Moi might have a better winter temperature but the air quality really sucks. I remember when I left LA for the last time when I moved north, I had tiers in my eyes, not because I was leaving it was because the sky had this greenish yellow look, smelled bad, and caused you grab your gas mask. Today living here going out doors and breathing fresh air every single day, never have an air quality problem is well I will take the winter here to the bad air there any day, how about you?

...
That sounds like a clear day in New Jersey, specifically Union, Elizabeth or the Passaic swamplands...
