"Robber" in failed state of South Africa shoots himself in "manhood"

CLOSE [X]

Pretoria - An armed robber who attacked 12 people in a house in Queenswood, Pretoria, and threatened to shoot them "one by one", shot his own penis off with his stolen firearm.

Another robber was shot dead on the scene.

The injured robber had hidden the firearm in the front of his trousers. When he removed the weapon, a shot went off by accident, hitting him in the groin.

I didn't realize South Africa was a failed state. It seemed quite nice when I visited it.

What on Earth is a "Mexican vasectomy"? I would think a vasectomy is a vasectomy regardless of origin.

Maybe I need caffeine?

According to a More..n informed source at the scene, this robber's injury was so severe that doctors would not have been able to re-attach his penis.

At least, he won't be spawning any offspring to carry on the family name and occupation!

According to the Failed State Index (and until I Googled it, I didn't know such a thing existed) South Africa has a rating of 68.8 . I don't know what the units are but the US is 34 and Somalia, 114.7. The average of all nations is about 70, so South Africa would be just slightly less failed than the average nation.

A Mexican vasectomy is when the bad guys are so poor that they cannot afford holsters. They stick their pistol in their waistband and sometimes in the adrenaline rush of crime . . .

When I look at the budget headlines for my state of residence, I wonder if there is a Failed State Index which applies to individual states in the US.

Tangentially, is there a good index for the quality of educations one's children can get in different places. Many more cuts to education here and I am going to have my kids print up a banner for the car: Misisipey ore bust.
