Back to Rome?
Pope Benedict has made a rather astonishing offer to disaffected Anglicans to come over to Rome. He proposes a special dispensation for those in the Anglican communion who find the ordination of gays and women into the Anglican priesthood to be unacceptable.
His Holiness says that he will allow Anglican priests who are already married to remain in that state and still be priests in the new dispensation. Of course they have to be straight and male.
The questions arise:
Is this another example of Romes opportunism? Or is it an example of Christian brotherhood, extending a helping hand in a time of moral crisis?
Should the Anglican church be ordaining gays and women given that many in the congregation genuinely disapprove of such ordination?
Should those who object to gay and women priests get themselves into the twenty first century?
If sodomy is, as alleged, anathema to the Supreme Being, why does He continue to produce so many gays?
Id be interested in the views of others.

Re: Back to Rome?
Rome's opportunism.
The Anglican Church has to go with the majority, or alternatively, form a sub-sect for the dissenters as it often has in the past.
Objections or otherwise to gay, lesbian etc clergy are a matter for individual Anglicans.
Sodomy is not anathama to God, just to some people.
Finally, NEVER trust a member of the Hitler Youth, or the former Head of the Inquisition, both of which Bendaprick is.

Re: Back to Rome?
I'm with y'a, Smithie. Without saying so, it's important to understand that the Anglican Church, peopled as it often is by older generations with older views, is nonetheless a relatively democratic body. That it now ordains gay priests - and even female priests - reflects the views of the majority in the Church. While I'm no longer affiliated, I was brought up in the Anglican Church (grandson of a bishop) and still do cherish it for being as open as it is. I felt really good when the Bishop of the Diocese of New Westminster in which I live first sanctioned gay marriage.
Anglicans now sanction female priests. I noted that Pope Benedict isn't inviting them into Rome's fold. Opportunist that he may be, he has his limits.

Personally I feel the Pope (all Popes) are full of themselves and will use any chance they can get to push there message into the media. If the Pope and the Catholic Church had his way the sun would still be revolving around the earth which is why religion should stay out of science.
I think a lot of people in the world need to get into the 21st century! Did you know that in Iran and Iraq Gays and Lesbians are being hunted down and tortured to death.
God does not produce Gays and Lesbians we ask God to come to the material plane (earth plus others) and be Gay or Lesbian, Black, White, Asian, Male or Female.
That's a lot of topic to cover in one posting...you must be into being tortured!

Wow intersting response. No it is not moderated and I see nothing edited.
The Pope also wanted to ban gay priests. Of course as we have discussed it is the hebephiles and pedophiles molesting the youth and not the gay priests. Since he wants to ban gay priests this gay catholic banned himself.

Part right, this and all threads are heavily moderated, if it is needed to be edited you will know it, it is never done behind closed pc's as the case may be but right out here in the open.
BTW, so far I see nothing that needs my attention.

For the Pope - Opportunity knocks.
No gays need apply, no gay members wanted.
No women wanted, its a Straight Male dominated org.
My heart goes out to my gay brothers who do believe in God and Jesus, and want to be part of the fold but are chastised because of the way they were born, they are by far better people then the ones that take that so called high ground, keep the faith my friends.
As for me,
Once again I stand by what I have stated in other posts, Religion is the worst invention of man and should be outlawed or at least TAXED heavily

Re: Back to Rome?
Solution:
Jewish authorities invite all flavors of Christians
including the big guy in Rome
and all flavors of Muslims
to the great big Jewish monotheistic tent.
After all, they are all branches of Judaism.
Makes as much sense as Anglicans returning to Rome.
