Hello everyone. I'm a new here. Just wanted a place where I can share my story and my frustration. And yeah, I do have one question too.
Well, I'm gonna talk with my therapist about chemical castration when I see her next thursday. I have been thinking about this for a long time now and I finally decided to try and see if the doctors would be understanding enough to help me with this.
The frustrating part is, now that I've finally decided to try, it's gonna be about two months before I can even get doctor's appointment. And when I finally am able to see the doctor, it's gonna be even longer before it's all set and I will finally be able to start the "procedure". And all that is if the doctor will be understanding enough.
So I guess it helps to talk with the therapist, in the meantime. Does it feel like helpful? I guess not, I feel that I've thinked about this so much that I am dedicated to start the process - so it feels like I just have to convince first my therapist that I am serious and that I need it, and after that my doctor too. Gosh, I really wish I could turn the time forward a few months.
Well, that's about that, I guess. Just wanted a place to vent my frustration. But I do have a question. I guess I can suggest the doctor what kind of mecdication I have been thinking of. And it seems like the two main choices are Depo Provera and Androcur. Has anyone ever tried both, or is there any medical experiments done as to indicate just how much more effective Depo Provera is (I am correct that DP is more effective, am I not?)
I've tried to look for the information in the forum, but I didn't find any threads that would give a satisfactory answer. So it's either that I was too stupid to search for the right things, or then I was too lazy to read enough search results. Either way, I hope someone could answer me.
So yeah, comments answers to my questions, anything that might be the least bit helpful, is highly appreciated.

Re: Thinking of chemical castration
Androcur is not FDA approved here in the US so doctors won't prescribe it. Most guys who take Depo Provera do monthly injections and feel it lowers their testosterone levels pretty well. Depo Provera is also used judicially to chemically castrate some sex offenders and the dosage they get is more like weekly after begining with two injections and then another two a couple days later before settling down to the weekly shot. Obviously there must be some blood testing to determine that that much is necessary to really get to castrate level.
I took Depo Provera monthly for over 2 1/2 years and felt it lowered my T level considerably. My T level was just under 100 where the normal range was 280-1080. Castrate level is considered under 50. For one month, I added 150 mg daily of generic Androcur and my T level dropped to 44. I can't say what my level would have been with just the Androcur because I kept doing the Depo Provera as well. I'm guessing that injections of Depo would further lower blood level of T if administered every 2 or 3 weeks instead of monthly.
Unfortunately, my experience works with the DP by itself but the Androcur was only take for a month concurrently with DP and I was surgicaly castrated shortly after that. I will add that I was more comfortable when my T level was at 100 than at 44 so I now take a very small amount of TRT to keep my level around 100- my last test was 122. But I feel both drugs will do the job you want if the dosage is right.

Thank you for your reply, clysmaniac. Here in Finland, I think Androcur is a legal drug - I mean with legal that it can be bought from a pharmacist given you have a doctor's prescription. At least I think it is - I will have to make sure whether it is true or not.
And yeah, I would love to get physically castrated at some point in my life, but I have a phobia of surgeries: even though I know it doesn't happen, I still keep wondering what if I still can feel the pain even when I'm under narcosis/sleep. I have a very low tolerance for physical pain, so that's probably why I have these kind of fears in the first place. But I can always hope; it would be the best thing I know to be able to experience life as an eunuch.
But because of my fears, I'll settle for the chemical castration.

Re: Thinking of chemical castration
One thing to keep in mind is that Androcur in particular can be hard on the liver if taken over the long term at high doses. There is also the issue of combining Androcur and Depo Provera. I did not like the combination of the two AT ALL. I don't know how much of it had to do with the drugs and how much of it had to do with my testosterone levels. I suspect that adding the DP to the mix pushed my levels below 100, and that's where I really began to slow down. 100-200 was sort of a good spot where I felt calm and happy. Otherwise I prefer to be above 400. I just began HRT this week so I'm getting to experience the higher side of things for the first time ever; I ran up the stairs carrying someone's dresser while helping him move yesterday. This feels good too.
Definitely in your case, if your doctor is sympathetic, get his or her help in figuring out what levels are right for you. And also if you have someone special in your life, get his or her opinion on a regular basis. Sometimes others can accurately tell us how we've changed over time better than we can. Certainly my boyfriend figured out what was happening to my energy levels and personality before I did.
Good luck.

Thank you, graylayer02. Yeah, high dosages of androcur being hard on the liver is kind of unwanted. I am a bit overweight and not used to taking care of my body (even though I am trying hard to get fit and eat healthier), so my internal organs having to go extra stress doesn't sound too tempting. So I guess I'll try to get on DP.
As for someone special, I won't have that problem as I loathe relationships and all that is "romantic".
