Lab tests

Post by bfleish (imported) »

To all fellow eunuchs out there.

I am going to the doc tomorrow to get a checkup. I want him to run hormone labs but he probably has no idea of which ones to run. So what would be the best group of labs for a eunuch on Androgel to get for good picture of what is going on hormonally?

Thanks.

Total Testosterone

Free Testosterone

Estrogen Level

Many wont order the estrogen levels, but often people using HRT do have problems with excess T conversion to E (i.e., me).

You may need a reason for him to order the tests. Testosterone test are on the expensive side what I remember. May need a reason for the insurance to pay. Just be prepared to give a answer. You may need to come clean with him. Or can always say that your sex drive is on the down side and want to check on the status.

Bobbie,

I have nothing to hide. I ended up being a eunuch medically and my doc knows this. He knows I have an empty sac and that I'm on Androgel so running the tests shouldn't be a problem. He just has no idea what tests need to be looked at from a hormone stance (He is an Internist).

In addition to the usual stuff I'm thinking of asking for following labs:

Testosterone

Free T

E2

LH

FSH

Anything else I should ask for? Pregnancy test?:)

LH & FSH or the next level above, the releasing factors

LHRF and FSHRF. These numbers along with how you are feeling is like the proof of physiological effect.

G'Luck

LH and FSH are from the pituitary gland. The instructions to the Pituitary gland comes from the Hypothalamus in the form of, releasing factors. Amazingly, they travel down a venous portal system between the hypothalmus and the pituitary. Only one other venous portal system in the body, can anyone name it? :D

So I went to the Internist today and asked that in addition to the normal tests he do the hormone tests. He really did not want to do it. I specifically requested that he do T, E2, LH & FSH. His reply was "Why do you want to check your estrogen level. Do you plan on becoming a woman?"

So I calmly explained to my former homophobic Internist that I had no testicles due to medical circumstances and that as far as I knew I planned on remaing male but I thought it would be a good idea to check my hormone levels while taking Androgel. I was boiling inside. But outside..... Cool........

I have to remind myself that I live in a world that still doesn't understand us. I realize that as a eunuch I am a very small minority and while the medical community understands what happens when you have no balls they really have no know clue what happens when you have no balls.
