Hi Riverwind,

Yes, you have my permission to use my site in your FAQ. This project sounds like something I would also like to link to.

My thinking is, I am more interested in getting rid of the penis than I am about what I will end up with afterwards, so I wonder if I should just have a penectomy or that with labiaplasty. Of course as Andrew mentioned, some of the old parts are used to create the female parts, so once I had the penectomy I would forever lose the possibility if vaginoplasty.

But right now my focus is on preparing for the social transition which I hope to accomplish in 2003, and then it would take some time to save funds for further surgery, so I do have time to decide. My testicles are already gone, so I don't have to worry about testosterone poisoning in the meantime.

As Andrew said, “Once you have the penectomy, a vaginoplasty will be much more complicated”. I think that it would depend on your age, your ultimate sexual desires and other factors.

If you are young and think that you might ultimately want a heterosexual relationship with a man, you should definitely not get the penectomy until you can afford the complete SRS procedure.

If you are older and just desire to be your feminine self with no possibly of ever having a heterosexual relationship with a male, the penectomy and labiaplasty might be a possibility. These procedures might also be a possibility for you if you are currently in a meaningful relationship, which you wish to continue, with another female.

It is a difficult and important decision. If you are unsure about any of these issues, you should complete your social adjustment period before you consider any additional surgeries.

My personal factors:

Age: 34

Ultimate sexual desires: Not sure. I was more than happy to wipe out most of my sex drive by castration in 1999, and I like having low libido and little interest in sex.

Orientation: Happily asexual since castration, though what little desire that remains would be lesbian, but there is some attraction to males and I can't rule out the possibility of having a relationship with a man.

Current status: I have no relationships and I have never been in any serious relationship. At this time I really don't anticipate seeking a love relationship.

I can assure you that my immediate focus is the social transition, which I plan to do before the final genital surgery.

I have been informed that this may be the hardest part of your life, especially with your coworkers. For what it may be worth, you have my best wishes.

Dear Sherry,

From what I have read and heard, it appears that women (once they are assured that you are not a sexual threat to them) are more accepting than men of MTF people. It could have something to do with the macho attitude of most men. I wish you the best of luck in your social transition period.

Please keep us updated on your progress so that we can offer you support and encouragement.

Nice how some things in life come together best when some things come apart best.

Thank you for your kind comments about my website.

Yes, if my work and everything holds together, I think I can be ready for the social transition next year. Tomorrow I drive down to Dallas TX to have my face electrocuted again (more electrolysis, this will be my 6th clearing), so I will be gone for a few days.
