Another update,

I had an appointment today with my Urologist to go over the surgery plans. I showed up early for the appointment as usual and believe it or not I got seen early.

What is wrong with the medical society today?

Well he went over the location of the incisions that he will be making on me. Telling me that normally he would be making larger incisions to remove more cord. But an ending result can be a permanent numbness on the tops of my legs. So he will make smaller incisions but not remove as much cord, he said if he needs to go back in later to remove more cord this may happen.

Once more he brought up that he would like to do a biopsy first, but did tell me that I could end up with more pain from that then the pain I am having now. He was pleased that I did get the creatine levels down to the 1.3 over the 1.7.

I asked him if I will be having stiches or be glued closed, he said “stitches but may also have glue.”

I asked him if there would be drain tubes, “he said no tubes.”

Then I asked a “Morbid” question, “Is there any way I can see them after they are removed” he said “Not really, and you really don’t want to see them anyway” they will be taken to pathology for a cancer screening.

He then listened to my breathing and my heart and then a final drop your pants and examined the testicles and he felt the odd lumps on both sides. He then made more notes in the computer while I got dressed.

When we were done with all that he followed me to the nurses station and filled out a consent to operation, administration of anesthetics and rendering of other medical services form. On this he put in the to preform the following operation or procedure area, “Bilateral Inguinal Orchiectomy” for the purpose of “bilateral testis tumors”.

The female assistant then asked me what procedure I was going to be having so that she could fill out the “work status report” for my employer, This explains that I need the time off of work, I told her with a straight face “Orchiectomy” and then said “I do know how to pronounce that one” I got a print out that states “Post Surgery” nothing more on it to give to my employer. But my copy says “Testicular Mass”

So, on the 20th of October 2011 my testicles will be removed by a MD in a hospital. Just the way I wanted.

I'm so happy for you Ken, best of luck on a speedy recovery :D Tell em you want something stronger than percocet, that stuff barely took the edge off for me. Also, if you haven't done it, get either comfort stretch waistband pants or jogging pants, something that won't put too much pressure on your pelvic area :) Also for my surgery, I didn't receive any tubes either, there was a lil fluid in the sac but that went away within a couple weeks. I was nervous before my surgery so they gave me a "happy shot" made things go a bit easier on me (my blood pressure was up 40 points), tho I wish they'd have done it before doing all the blood work and running the IV. Strangely enough, I had no problem using needles before, but having a doctor use them on me gives me the creeps :) The side effect of the shot is giddyness and some amnesia (I don't remember them actually getting me into the OR, I guess the medicine kicked in somewhere in the hallway as they were wheeling me out of my room) After that, I remember laying in that bed trying to wake up, I could move my arm, but the rest of me didn't wanna cooperate, once I was a lil more alert I became nauseated, and got a lil sick, but since I hadn't eaten or drank anything within 12 hours of the surgery all that came up was a lil bit of mucus, after a couple minutes the nauseous feeling went away and I slipped a hand under the blanket and felt the empty sac for the first time :D I was soooo happy and still slightly out of it :) Bout that point I was feeling really thirsty, I drank 2-3 cups of water, then they wheeled me into another room and let me relax a bit, they brought me some of the best orange jello I ever ate and some more water. Then they wanted me to goto the bathroom just to make sure there were no problems, no problems with that, then my friend showed up to pick me up, they gave him all the instructions since they don't trust you to remember them while you're still medicated from the surgery (no driving/making descissions for 24 hours) After that, we packed up, left the hospital, got my prescription for percocet filled, and off to home we went :) I spent the better part of a week just kinda dragging myself from bed to chair every 2-3 hours to take another pain pill and also to get moving around a bit because my muscles were getting sore laying in bed all day :)
