A good book on the subject is THE INVISIBLES by Zia Jaffery. Most college libraries and larger public ones should have it.

I've read it, twice, and it's very well written. The Author's search to find enough information about the eunuchs to write a book is well told, and her frustration understandable. The very fact that she wasn't able to get a whole lot of information out of a large house of eunuchs that she 'befriended', as far as their history and how they came to be eunuchs, pretty much says a lot.

Anywhere there's money to be made, and from what Ms. Jaffery finds and writes, there IS money involved. As far as kidnapping and forced castration as the above linked article says, well, it's believable. You NEVER know what some people will do for money.

Now if the person (adult) is willing to go through this stuff then that's different
