I just noticed today that the message beneath my screen name has changed from active member to "Fully Qualified Member". What triggered the upgrade?

I thought Fully Qualified was for confirmed surgical eunuchs.

Does this mean that I am now an honorary eunuch?

Exactly. When you hit 100 you become Fully Qualified. When you hit 200 you become a Senior Member. When you hit 400 you become an Archive Regular. I do not know if there is anything beyond Archive Regular.

im trying to imagine how to confirm surgical Eunuch Status? Doctors letter? Having your removed testes presented to?! And speaking of this other then Dr Kimmel who I think sent your balls home with you in a doggie bag most hospitals dispose of them in the surgical waste. Is there maybe a secret handshake? You know you bot grasp each others scrotum and SQUEEZE. Or maybe its just a light kick to the crotch area. If you flinch you fail?!

Well, maybe there actually WAS a special identifying sign...

Wilbur Smith wrote a couple of (very good) novels based on the life of a eunuch named "Taita," who lived way back in the time of the Pharohs. The first novel was called "River God," and the second was called "Warlock." It was in the novel Warlock that I read that the eunuch Taita would make a sign with his hands, bringing them together as if he were going to pray, but instead of actually touching palm to palm, he would touch only the little finger tip to the little finger tip when he greeted a fellow eunuch. This was the sign that the eunuchs of ancient Egypt used - well, at least according to the novels.

By the way, in my opinion, both books (River God and Warlock) are excellent, as is just about everything Wilbur Smith writes, but keep in mind these novels are works of fiction, and the Pharohs named in the novels are NOT real. I have read that some Egyptologist really did not like the novels giving the impression that they were based on any of the known Pharohs. The novels are loosely based on some scrolls recovered and translated from the ancient tombs in Egypt.
