Hate to say it, but I got rather irritated by all those Harry Potter things cluttering up the left-hand-side of my EA logon home page.

How many was it? Fifty or more chapters?

Go on. Tell me it was an excellent story! And perhaps it was. But the original Harry Potter stories were kids' stories, and I'm old. Nothing was going to persuade me to read about the Secret of the Golden Unicorn.

Is there a way to refine the 'new postings' list on the left hand side of the EA home page?

Could it have, say, subdirectories for [a] non-English submissions, and stories that have multiple episodes?

Just a suggestion ....

Oh, my God! Sorry to have so inconvenienced you. Please let us know what kind of stories you like, and we'll reject all others, so you won't have to sift through them.

Never mind that LW put so much effort into this excellently written story and that so many enjoyed it. It cluttered up the log-in page. How inconvenient for you.

Will someone please re-write the software to save him all this trouble?

By the way, I'm old, and I like Harry Potter stories. So do many other adults.

You have a ways to go to catch up with some of the works of Pueros

I heartily agree that Pueros' body of work here dwarfs my humble effort. That said, I took a sample look at his longest works like Nero & Lycian Prince that have chapter listings in the 50's & 60's. I think his chapters are shorter than mine. I just might have an edge in word count, but it's not important.

Wow! I never got 5 of those before! You don't see those on the regular HP fan-fic boards too much. I am glad you liked it, thank you for the kind words, and the 's. The other story posted here is Vae Victis, which is the opposite of Golden Unicorn. You-know-who wins and decides that the family trees of the wizarding families who opposed him need a "pruning" of the permanent kind, if you know what I mean!;)

Part 1, Harry gets handed over to the Malfoy's.

Part 2, The Weasley twins are given over to Madam Umbridge,

Part 3, Neville is placed in the "loving" care of Bellatrix.

I hardly believe the Harry Potter series of books are "Childrens Stories". They are long well written stories. Ones full of magic, mystery, and suspense. In short they are fun.

Sure JKR wrote them with the main focus being on telling a story the younger reader could enjoy, but in not talking down to them she created a world that a wide segment of readers found they could imerse themselves into.

A real childrens book is rarely if ever greater then 100 pages, tends to be sappy, or silly, and holds little to no intrest for any reader beyond say 10 years. All things that preclude a serious work like JKR.

As one who reads at least 1 novel per week, I find her work rather enjoyable.

Same goes for LW's fan Fic. I found the story compelling and well written. the prose flowing rather well, in that it took me along for a good ride. If there was anything to gripe about in my opinion, there was the fact that it ended, and that the chapters didn't come fast enough.

But I can live with those slight dissapointments

The early books in the series were marketed as Children's books, because that's the only way JKR could sell them, (a couple of dozen publishers turned her down, I bet they feel like a bunch of dumbasses, and Disney turned down the movie rights to the first 4) and they were that type of book to a degree, but there were parents complaining about the books being too intense by Book 2 (the huge snake tries to kill harry at the end). By the end of book 4 you have explicit torture and death as the culminating scenes, and by book 7 you have an explicit torture and death scene in chapter one (the teacher who is suspended by her wrists and murdered by Voldemort in Malfoy manor).

So, maybe they started as Children's books, but someone who says they were by the end, hasn't read them, or they have some really screwed up kids!

And remember the flash of genius in JKR was that Harry, Hermione, & Ron grew up in the books as the readers grew up. In the past, children, like nancy drew and the hardy boys stayed the same age for maybe 50 years or so. But, again, if you didn't read the series, it makes no sense. The movies only give you a rough approximation of the books.

I like the Harry Potter stories, but I wish there were more short stories instead of huge multi part stories. I just want to read about Hermione casting a vanishing spell on Harry's balls or a shrinking spell on his 'magical wand', not some huge book.

Sounds like there is an opportunity here for you to write some of these short stories you would like to see and submit them. You know the old saying about if you want something done right .... I have seen something similar in theme to what you describe on the HP fiction boards, except it was Ron who made Harry's Wee-wee shrink to baby size because he caught Harry shagging his sister. Unfortunately, this was an early chapter of a long story with many chapters about how Harry adjusted to his new condition, so it wouldn't fit your desires.

B. I looked at your profile and this story, as best I remember it, would be exactly what you would enjoy. I don't want to ruin it, but the things you mention that interest you are featured parts of that story. However, I don't remember the title or the author, I read this at least a couple of years ago on a HP site (there are several dozen HP fan fiction sites, some only post stories featuring specific "pairings" of characters, like Hermione/Snape, and they come & go). I don't know that the story, or even the site, is still up. I will check around when I get the chance and see if I can find it for you.

I am generally lazy when it comes to reading multi chapter stories, but I am glad I give your Harry Potter story a chance.

I found it very engaging, well written and a true pleasure to read.
