Patricia,

Since you haven't filled in your member profile, I and others are at a loss for offering related, helpful advice. We don't know what country you are in, nor do we know your gender identity. You may be surprised, but some people seeking feminizing surgeries still claim a male gender identity (and so we try to talk them out of such things).

First off, just a business issue: This area is set aside for life stories. Your thread would be better placed in the Gay, Bisexual, and TG Room portion of the Eunuch Archive.

You mention a TURP (transurethal resection of prostate). Hopefully this is for medical reasons only, for I've never heard of it being part of an MtF transition.

You give conflicting signals. In another thread, you asked whether scrotum removal could be done at the same time as an orchiectomy. Madam, if you planning to transition MtF, you want to keep your scrotum as raw material for vagioplasty.

You received good advice on another thread to try chemical castration first before embarking on orchiectomy. The Standards of Care for transsexuals says to use hormones first. Testosterone blockers will give you the real feel of castration so you will discover if transition is right for you.

As for advantages of orchiectomy, there aren't any if plan to attack transition speedily. HRT can accomplish everything an orchie can (except for making it easier to tuck). An orchie's main benefit is if you plan to draw out the transition process, for why take T-blockers for years when a relatively inexpensive surgery can remedy the problem?

An orchie is also advantageous if you aren't planning on further MtF surgery.

Hoping you find what you need,

Terri

Bryan, Thanks for your comments

The TURP is for a medical problem, and my thoughts were to arrange to have my orchedetomy to be done at the same time, saving an extra trip to the hospital.

The appointment with the Urologist is Mid October.

I not planning on full M to F surgery, and that why I would be seeking remove of the scrotum.

I must admit that I have backed off the idea to live as woman, because my body is so masculine at best I would end up looking like guy in drag, which is the last thing that I want.

I have checked my profile and it appeared to be OK,

Male, 70 yrs, Straight, Residing in Australia.

Hi Patricia,

Thanks for the explanation. Makes more sense now.

With regard to your profile, there is a privacy feature. Your setting for "About Me" is apparently set to something more restrictive than "Everyone." If you left-click on other members' names [on the left-hand side while viewing a thread], you are given a menu. One of the options is to view public profile.

Of course, maybe you don't want everyone to see what's in your profile. Or you may want to remove some information before making it public. The choice is yours. (You aren't planning on running for public office ever, correct?)

To my knowledge there is no option to make profiles private. I can see Patricia's profile in the normal manner, and could yesterday as well. You now have me wondering and exploring more...

Hi,

I am counting the days until I visit the Urologist (13th Oct.) my GP also included in his referral that I have requested an Orchidectomy for a long standing desire and assessment for male to female change. the full GRS will not

happen. I'm planning in on the Orch. & low dosage estrogen treatment😄😄
