I found this site awhile ago after I had my left testicle removed, which was three years ago. The right was removed last year. I had a difficult decision as I had injured the testicles years ago and didn't seek medical attention because I just thought it was nothing and it will be ok. Well, my mistake turned into the removal of both testicles which was non-functional and caused much pain. I was already on testosterone replacement and my doctor asked me if removal was on option for me. It made alot of sense because it was already non-functional and I was under the care of pain management for the painful testicles. Actually, the first removal was traumatic for me and I was prepared for an implant. As time gone by, I did not care so much that I had one testicle. When the second was proposed to me, I had a long talk with my wife and my doctors. The plan was that I was going to have implants so that I will not feel like I've lost everything. Well, it was been one year and I don't want to have implants. The very fact that I don't live in pain anymore is just fine with me. Also, implants are not fail-proof. It can cause pain and it might be something that needs to be replaced after 5-10 years. The decision to leave things empty was an easy one. In fact, I'm opting to remove the extra scrotum because it does cause lots of discomfort when the scrotum is loose. I'm now ok with living without testicles and happy that the pain is no longer apart of my life.
This site is interesting with many different views on testicle removal. As for me, it is all about quality of life. I hope people will find what they are looking for. I wish everyone the best. Take care of yourself.
Just someone without testicles....

I'm in the same boat as you. I lost both in an accident. At the time it was such a shock that I didn't even want to live. But after finally getting HRT at the proper levels I've found that you can get along just fine without them. And have actually decided that the male anatomy was never designed to be comfortable!
Originally I would have opted for implants, but like you I hear they're not without problems, besides my insurance company considers them cosmetic and I would have to foot the bill.
My doc says that a scrotal reduction/removal could be covered. So some day when time permits I may just go that route.

I can agree totally with you. For me the pain was something I lived with for almost 30 years. When the day finally came that they were removed, I was simply elated to be pain free.
I also like the look that I now have, and really am grateful to my surgeon for taking them off, to help me improve my quality of life.
I never even considered implants, since the possibility for a different kind of pain was there. I have no regrets about that decision.
Its almost a year since they were removed, and I can assure you, if I was suddenly in possession of a pair again, I would make the same choice.
Glad to hear that you are pleased with your results.

Me as well, feeling like your being kicked in the nuts 5, 6 times a day is not fun. I don't miss them nor do I take HRT. I love my new life no regrets. Castrated 9/6/02.

I guess I'm the odd man (eunuch) out because I opted for implants and love them. I don't know why they would need to be replaced in 5 to 10 years?! Maybe this is the old Saline type that "could" be damaged? I opted for solid types and don't regret it at all. Pain wise I have a hard time understanding how silicone implants can be a source of future pain?
I read a lot of similar posts (All by people without implants) and almost decided not to have them. Thankfully I spoke to some men who had them and decided to go ahead.

It's good to read of a bunch of guys that've lost their balls for often medically-related reasons that don't miss them and think they look fine w/o them. I'm the same. While I know most guys have 2 and that I may look strange to many, I think it's just fine not to have anything hanging below my crotch. I think a lot about having my scrotum reduced or tightened and will someday.
