Welsh guy performs own gender reassignment surgery

Post by SplitDik (imported) »

Well, he did the penectomy himself -- not a proper SRS of course. Sounds like a bad idea since for SRS don't you want to keep some of the penis tissue for the vaginal construction?

Roland Mery performed his own gender reassignment surgery, ouch!

Posted in August 22nd, 2009

by Claudette Rothman in crazy

A 61-year-old married father of four badly wanted to be woman so he performed his own sex change operation.

Roland Mery, was told by doctors he had to wait two years before getting his gender reassignment surgery and not wanting to wait, he opted to do it himself.

According to reports, he told his wife, Julie, that he was suffering from a headache and he took some painkillers and headed to the bedroom.

Using a homemade surgery kit, he removed his genital, losing two pints of blood in the process.

“From the moment I walked down the stairs after I did it I just felt right,” Roland said. “I had repressed my feeling for so long. I had worked out exactly how I would do it and rehearsed it many times. It proved to me afterwards that your brain and emotions could overpower you so much. I had rehearsed the whole thing over and over. SO when it came to actually doing it, the pain wasn’t an issue anymore.”

Julie, who had been married to Mery for 23 years, said she had no idea that her husband wanted to be a woman.

I think we understand. This goes to show how strong the need is in some people. --FLO--

He was lucky to be walking at all. I think the human body only holds about 6 pints of blood. That is a huge amount to loose.

His condition and need is understandable. Wounder if he was under any care of a health professionals. Someone should have started his preop care of going on hormones first. Waiting and living a year as the other sex is normal and very wise choice one should make.

I would think he will be getting some psychiatrist help for a while now.

He's 61, two years is like an eternity. I realize that some younger people should wait, but when you're 61 you don't have a lot of time left.

But he may not make 62 if it went wrong. Think about it.

TWO PINTS?

I had five hours of hernia repair and didn't even lose 1 pint of blood. Two pints is enough for him to pass out and bleed to death.

The man was lucky.

OK, this post is going to seem a bit off topic at first but do please bear, (bare? bear?) with me, and I am sorry for the anger and vulgarity in this post but this subject really gets me mad, it strikes too close to home for me...

A long time ago, I read the book "Mindhunter" by John Douglas, it was about his work doing psychological profiling for the FBI's Behavioral Science Unit. His work led to the arrests of several serial killers, and the book was actually very interesting.

One case that he did study but did NOT actually work on was that of Ed Gein. That case was actually very gruesome and bloody, and though Ed Gein did not kill very many women (I think it was only three), the manner in which he killed them and kept their body parts was very very ugly. At least two Hollywood movies were LOOSLEY based on the things Ed Gein did ("Silence of the Lambs," and the first "Texas Chainsaw Massacre") I don't want to go into the particulars of the case, just know that he was a VERY sick person.

AFTER Ed Gein was caught, tried, convicted and sentenced to execution... for the first time in his life he got an ever so small dose of competent medical care (compliments of the state taxpayers) and a psychological examination. Low and behold! The state shrink said that Ed Gein was in fact a woman in a man's body, and this was way back in the 1950's when transgenderism was REALLY not a common diagnosis... and she was a very very very unhappy woman. Well, too bad for her/him, she/he was executed and that ended the matter...

So, three women DIED in that case, because Ed Gein could not competently treat his/her transgender condition.

People who are bitterly opposed to the current proposed health care plans often claim that the socialist health care plan being pushed by President Obama would force taxpayers to pay for GRS! (THAT IS A FALSE CLAIM BTW). But I actually oppose health care that does NOT address transgenderism and does not offer at least some suppliments for GRS. I say that I would much rather pay for a THOUSAND GRS operations than have one recurrance of the Ed Gein type frustrated transsexual.

In the case cited here in this thread, nobody was murdered, I guess this "Roland Mery" was not as extreme a case as Ed Gein, but damn damn damn! I am surprised to see that it happened in the U.K., I thought they would have a better health care protocol than that. The man/woman has to cut their own dick off because everyone is so damn squeemish about GRS!? What the f***? Brazil is supplimenting GRS for it's transsexuals, it is not FREE for a Brazilian transsexual, but at least the costs are not so damn high, so, Cuba, Brazil, and I suspect a lot of other countries are taking much better basic care of their citizens than the good ole' U.S. of A.... DAMN, we should NOT accept this shit.

As I recall Ed Gein only killed one person. The rest were cadavers dug up from graves. He would disect, canabalize, and upholster with the skin (lamp shades). He was not sentenced to death - Wisconsin hasn't had a death penalty for close to 100 years. Gein died of old age in a prison mental hospital. And no one gave much credence to the idiot spouting the transgender stuff for him.

I completely agree with the point of DeaconBlues's comment!

Throughout my life, I have found myself in a headset much like that of Roland Mery. I also have imagined and even rehearsed doing such a thing to myself. Twice I was ready to actually do this thing! But... At the last minute... I got scared and backed away from doing this.

I would like to add that I find it very difficult to trust those whom I have met online who say they can help with my quest. I mean... I do not want to end up with a staring role in a new black market snuff flick! Furthermore... Those who I have talked w/ online who say they are willing to help... As I discuss this further... I quickly come to the conclusion they only want to get into a sexual situation that ends w/ me "all messed up" for the rest of my life.

I wish we had here in the USA a legal and safe health care system that would allow me to have a SRS and stay a "boy" once the surgery is history.

Furthermore... I hope I get to live many many many healthy years once I have obtained a SRS. Or... I think... I would feel very happy just as a complete nullo!

Your recollection is probably accurate, my only knowledge of the Ed Gein case came from that book that I read way back in 1996, and just because it was in that book does not mean it was all unbiased fact and truth. So maybe Ed Gein being transgender was just something he tried to make himeself appear insane.

Still, there IS a point, even if Ed Gein was only a fake transsexual, and that is that GRS in MOST cases is clearly elective surgery, the patient can continue to live a healthy life, with good quality of life. Yet in some cases, there is CLEARLY a need for the surgery, or at least some treatment of the transgender condition. I stronly suspect that there are a lot of dysfunctional types out there who are closeted transsexuals, who suffer a plethora of other problems that are only exacebated by the repressed personality within.
