Judging by the relative prominence of Thai SRS surgeons, even the abundant community of adult websites related to mostly pre-op but also some post-op Katoey, one would expect to find at least some who either choose to have no vagina, or don't have sufficient material (or money) to create one and opt simply for penectomy / nullification instead.

Yet it is incredibly difficult, if not impossible, to find any images of smooth, bare crotched Katoey, who simply have no genitals at all. If they exist, as the presence of Classy Bitch suggests, and the procedure is actually listed on their websites, and there are desirable reasons for it, both cosmetically, practically, and monetarily, one would expect to find someone who has had it done. I agree that the artificial vagina does tend to look a bit unseemly, and prefer the look of a completely smooth, genital-free crotch.

One can find nullified men, and if one looks a little harder, nullified women, but what I'd really like to see is what a nullified T-girl looks like. They must exist, right? Where are they? Surely, some Hijra must also be like this, but I think the crudeness of the operation would leave an unseemly scar, and it's also difficult to find images of that (despite their apparent public display).

Maybe if you could address them in more polite terms instead of say, ladyboys, katoey, they might bother responding more positively.

I don't get the discrimination Thailand has against transwomen. They don't need a distinct category, why deny them the female-recognition they deserve, and browbeat them into thinking they are a seperate category?

That's a bit harsh. Kellyslarkin at least admitted an unfamiliarity to the culture. Considering the way the terms are advertised, an outsider wouldn't necessarily know any better.

Consider the scene from Rush Hour where Jackie Chan's character is exposed to rap & hip hop and all those lyrics about '******'. He is then introduced to a bunch of black people in a pool hall, and his black escort greets them by saying "What's up my *****?" and gets a friendly macho hug and all that, but when Jackie offers the same greeting, he gets a brawl. A contrived scene I know, but it does illustrate a point.

Also, consider that many people people who fit a particular slur don't find it offensive, while others can. Some prefer to be called black, negro, african-american, etc, even *****, but others seemingly of the same group would take offense those same terms.

Many homosexuals identify themselves as queer, gay, fag, etc, each an offensive term - depending on the person.

There could very well be she-males, she-he, ladyboys or Katoey who adore that term with pride. How is one to know?

I personally did not even think that the terms ladyboy or Katoey were anything but a description - like male or female, let alone having a derogatory connotation until this thread.

So what do we call them then? What universally accepted word/term can be used to identify them that absolutely no one anywhere can take offense? We could say Thai trans-sexual - but then we're being racist by identifying them as Thai, and sexist by not identifying them as male or female depending on what they born physically as compared to what they have corrected themselves to be physically.

When it comes to any term, one must consider the context in which it is said. If the original poster wrote something like "Where's all them ladyboy freaks at..." - yeah - totally derogatory. If on the other hand one said something like "I fell in love with someone, she was a ladyboy..." then perhaps it no different that saying one fell in love with a man or a women. Sometimes I think people just like to take offense at anything they can, just because they can.

People need to relax and stop jumping to conclusions all the time.

It may come as a shock to you that here in South Texiz basements are few and far betwixt. I surely would be hesitant to have one in that unless it was virtually hermetically sealed it would harbor all manner of creepy-crawlies...Black widow spider, the recently arrived Brown Widow, Brown Recluse, Scorpions, and perhaps the huge and nasty Centipedes we grow here. There would also be snakes, especially in winter, and a lot of rodents too.

Now that you mention it, a small (fifty or so) harem of snipped LBs would be manageable but all would have to still have their tiny or not-so-tiny peepees still attached. I've seen enough post-op pics to think most operations were done with a Nine-Iron or a hand grenade...Ewwwww! To be fair, however, I've seen a VERY few that are pretty, well, pretty.

I think ladyboy is a perfectly acceptable term but like most words it depends on who is using it about whom and how they are using it. I don't know for sure but I think in Thailand "ladyboy" is just a descriptive word and is not derogatory.

Is a "ladyboy" a complete male-to-female transgendered person ? Or somewhere in between ? It may be a somewhat vague term (???).
