Cause for hope in terms of gaining medical recognition of eunuch transgenderism
I thought I should introduce myself here, since my situation may now be of some relevance to others like me. I'm a 24 year old genetic male who since I was at least 15 years old have had the entirely rational desire to be castrated. My reasons for wishing so are similar to those of others expressed here: I have a visceral dislike for my testicles, experience the thought of myself masturbating as traumatic, hate the psychological and behavioural impact of male hormones, wish to have more control over my own desires and volition, and to benefit from the numerous psychological benefits of castration described elsewhere in this forum. I also consider it to be one of the few logically consistent solutions available to a sensitive male living in a a society far overburdened by the consequences of male aggression (e.g. war, domestic violence, rape, suicide and the disproportionately high rates of premature death among young males, to name only the most obvious). The potential side-effects are as far as I'm considered negligible compared to the pain and suffering I have endured for the entirety of my adult life, and scarcely greater than the side-effects of the numerous anti-depressants and anxiolytics I've had to take instead to ameliorate that suffering. I first discussed my wish to be castrated with a doctor when I was 16 or so, and after speaking with me for less than 15 minutes he prescribed me an antipsychotic medication, which I took (to absolutely no effect beyond intolerable mental sedation) while continuing my search for a doctor with the intelligence and professionalism to actually take seriously my wishes and aid me in fulfilling them. Luckily I did find such professionals, and by 18 I had succeeded in convincing my psychiatrist and psychologist to refer me to a sympathetic endocrinologist willing to prescribe a hormone suppressant (Androcur) and monitor my health while on it. Though I have from the very beginning wanted a complete and irreversible surgical solution, at the time I asked merely to be put on a hormone suppressant as a trial run, since I knew that was the only help they would be willing to give me. I was on Androcur for about two years before my father's medical coverage changed and I was no longer covered hence could no longer afford the medication. Since then I've tried to endure by increasing my anti-depressant and anxiolytic dosages (which are covered by my paltry student medical insurance) to borderline unhealthy levels, and would undoubtedly have killed myself already if I didn't have a wonderfully kind and supportive spouse and wasn't relatively well-educated and articulate, and so can expect to eventually have my wishes fulfilled if I can only afford the surgery. The reason I'm posting here now (I posted once or twice when I was 16, I think) is that I've found an SRS surgeon willing to perform the surgery and will soon be attempting to have the cost of the surgery covered under existing provincial policies covering the cost of SRS surgery for transsexuals (I live in British Columbia, Canada). If, as I expect, the province initially refuses to cover the surgery because my identity doesn't fit into either of the two recognized cookie-cutter molds, then I'll have to appeal the ruling or, if necessary, try to sue to have it covered, and so set a precedent that other jurisdictions might hopefully follow. The Standards of Care for Male-to-Eunuch transgendered individuals that 'Jesus' and his Canadian colleague have drafted will be exhibit A in my appeal, should that be necessary. Fortunately the psychiatrist who will be assessing me prior to submitting my claim for medical coverage is the president of the Canadian Professional Association for Transgender Health, so I think there's grounds for hope that my claim will eventually be recognized and accepted. Here's hoping some precedent can be set that's the only thing that would even begin to make up for what I and so many others here have suffered.

Sounds like you have had a very hard life. We always tell someone to try out chemical castration first to see if it works. Well you have done that and seem to have found out it is right for you. You are doing all the right things.
Contact Jesus in this site and he will send you several medical papers for your doctors. It is explaining the desire for a person to wants castration without wanting sex change. He will be very helpful to you.

Yeah I'm in touch with Jesus' Canadian colleague, who actually just had a meeting recently with the psychiatrist who will be evaluating my claim, so she's definitely on board. My concern is more that unequivocal legal precedent be set and the recognition of the medical establishment be obtained (and publicized), so that people like my sixteen-year-old former self no longer have to tolerate being pathologized and patronized to.

I just heard that the Transportation department is going to add a requirement that airplane reservations include both gender and birthdate starting sometime in the next year or so. Think that they will just have M and F boxes or will they include Eunuch or maybe Other?

You left out the requirement for encoded physical recognition (facial and/or fingerprint) on the I.D.'s that will be accepted for boarding a flight. Now back to the subject at hand. --FLO--

May I make a suggestion, do chemical castration for a period of time before surgery, take castration on a test drive if you will and see if this is what you really want. Remember there is no turning back.
Good luck to you,

Re: Cause for hope in terms of gaining medical recognition of eunuch transgenderism
Personally I do not like the idea of being classified as "transgendered" because I am a eunuch, however if that is what it takes to get eunuchism medically recognized and covered by health plans until a better, separate diagnosis can be devised, that would definitely be a step in the right direction. I truly hope you are successful in meeting your goals and that your case sets a precedent for the rest of us.

Re: Cause for hope in terms of gaining medical recognition of eunuch transgenderism
The medical community is an medievil system, that refuses to change quickly in many regards.
The shear number of men on this and other forums , says that there actually IS a third gender(eunuch) that needs to be recognized and accepted.
Some like myself have dealt with lifelong issues with the offending orbs, since they really should not have been there in the first place. Others came to realize for varying reasons that having testicles was NOT supposed to be part of their anatomy.
The struggles that must be endured to be castrated are absurd. In a free thinking society , we must accomodate those who truly do need this.
Some seek some sort of demeaning , or dominince, and I am not sure that is not a mental issue that could be corrected by means other than castration, but for many the only real solution is to be not totally male, and that should be readily available.
Good luck in your struggles, and hopefully your case will make a change in the protocol once and for all.
