Re: Trying to get preventative prostate removal

Wishing all goes well with the procedure and it clears the cancer.

I had prostate removed 3 years ago and am enjoying the dry orgasms.

I haven't had much in the way of erections since though.

But haven't suffered from too much in the way of bladder leak,

With the benefit of a few short ...

Re: Trying to get preventative prostate removal

Things are continuing to go very well.

I have had a few weeks since the operation (and since the catheter) and bladder control is back to normal. I literally couldn't pick the difference now compared to pre-op'. The physiotherapist and I discussed it and think that it's a combination of factors ...

Re: Trying to get preventative prostate removal

Glad to Hear lt went well. 3 years on from my procedure I've got to enjoy my lack of erections and dry orgasms.

Bladder leak wasn't much of an issue but is now nearly as good as it was before, however some gym work may release the odd small dribble ( I usually simply fold up a kitchen towel and ...

Re: Trying to get preventative prostate removal

The catheter is out, which is a huge relief.

Everything went unusually well in the areas I hoped it would. Topping the list, my bladder control is unusually good. Well that's likely second-top after "no medical complications". Next the recovery seems to be going well...I am still a patchwork of ...

Re: Trying to get preventative prostate removal

I am recovering after the operation. I have a catheter in for a week, then go back in to hospital to see if my urethra has healed up properly. (Long story short but the prostate is between the bladder and urethra, so they need to connect the urethra to the bladder after removing the prostate).

That ...

Thanks. I'm post-op' and recovering well so far. The specialist is optimistic about the recovery too, which is reassuring.

Re: Trying to get preventative prostate removal

I am trying to get my prostate removed as a preventative / precautionary measure due to a massive family history of prostate cancer (and breast cancer which is linked).

The pandemic has delayed that, I think.

Does anyone have any advice on how to convince a urologist I am serious about pursuing ...
