Re: Plural Marriage
Your question really questions the legitimacy of the institution of marriage itself. Why is the 'state' getting involved in this matter at all? It might be said that the 'original' purpose of marriage was to try to corral two horney teenagers into a committed relationship long enough to raise their ...

Re: The Decision in Perry v Schwarzennegger is for the Plaintiffs
Certainly I applaud the ruling, and a win at this stage is a whole lot better than a loss, but it is way too early to celebrate. Both sides have expressed determination to take it to the Supreme Court, and as was recently reported the current court is the most conservative in 60 years. I am good ...

Re: Theory of Homosexuality
I remain UNCONVINCED of this. It is a RELIGIOUS DOGMA. Science is based on IDEAS and EMPIRICAL justification, NOT Ideal justification. (i.e. 'faith'). Ideas are NOT a form of faith whatsoever.
All Ideas are a form of faith. Otherwise we'd call them 'facts', not 'ideas'. The 'idea' that there is ...

Re: The negative biological effects of puberty on happiness
Sorry Sensenbender, I didn't mean that we should have a process forcefully carried out where certain men are forced to be castrated. I just like to point out that there is a sexual imbalance. Well isn't there? It was on another thread that A-1 and you spoke about women wanting sex less (no sex ...

Re: religion - general discussion
A more obvious question is why one would hold unsupported beliefs? There are several equally weak reasons: to conform with others, seeking praise and acceptance while avoiding censure and ostracism; to assert that one's wishes are true, and that life is as one would want it to be; to placate a ...

I have an urge to drag this thread kicking and screaming back on topic. So lets see if this will do it:
