How young do you guys think kids should be able to transition medically/surgically?

Do you have any recommendations?

Is there any good stories in the archive that go into detail about the surgeries? It doesn't matter the topic pentectomy, nullification etc? I just like reading the details about the surgeries and the patients going through it.
