Re: Archives negatively in the news !

Some opinions:

1 - I think 90% of so-called "gender dysphoria" in children, specifically in boys, is the result of either liberal parents wanting to brag about how "enlightened" they are and "persuading" their children to go along with it, or parents, usually mothers, who wanted a girl and got a ...

Re: Studio Ghibli Fans Mourn

It was C.S. Lewis who gave us the insight that

“A children's story that can only be enjoyed by children is not a good children's story in the slightest.”

My Neighbor Totoro is a good children's story!

Re: Microsoft alternative

I guess my MS Office is not the only unsupported suite I am using. Open office has also stopped updating and has been succeeded by Libre Office as mentioned in fhunter's post.

Re: Microsoft alternative

You might want to look at Open Office (https://www.openoffice.org/). For one thing, it's free.

I have an older (now unsupported) version of Microsoft Office that I still use, and I like my version of Word, but 90% of the time I actually prefer Open Office "Calc" over Excel.

"
So, what do these people do when it's a little girl getting molested by a straight man? It's the same crime, only the genders are different. Answer: *crickets* At least in comparison.

"

And if the girl is a bit older, they try justifying it by claiming her skirt was too short, or her behavior ...

Re: An Old Story - but it happened

I suppose everybody here has heard the story of the lady who one day hugged her cat, telling him, "I love you so much," and gave him a kiss. The kiss was magic and the cat turned back into the handsome prince he really was and told the lady, "Now aren't you sorry you had me 'fixed'?"

Re: Winter Time - repost of old joke

The fact that -40 is the same on both scales can save memory work on conversion:

* Add 40 [to get number of degrees above -40],

* multiply by 5/9 [C to F] or 9/5 [F to C], then

* subtract 40 [to get back to C or F from degrees above -40].

The only thing you have to worry about is what to ...

Re: Microsoft strikes again

Software development, ah yes.

I remember years ago (before the era of the "personal computer") becoming lead of a team of badly overworked programmers. A user would suggest something and the team would get right on it, delivering it in a few days...to which the user would say, "What? Oh, THAT! Yeah ...

Re: Microsoft strikes again

My understanding is that Linux is a variant of Unix, and for those who are not used to it, Unix can be quite intimidating. On the other hand, nobody is quite as productive as a Unix person using one of the Unix command line interfaces (Unix calls them "shells"), of which there are at least three ...
