3rd anniversary of my double orchi is today.
Nothing earth shattering, just taking notice of a very notable event in my life. I was castrated by my urologist in a local hospital on Sept. 3, 2015, three years ago today. I chose no TRT because I was warned of the increased possibility of stroke and/or heart attack. Per my PCP I do take two 600 ...

Re: Avoiding/minimizing bone loss after castration
My urologist told me to take an over the counter calcium tablet twice a day. 600mg in the morning and another at night. I also get an annual bone scan. So far, so good.

Re: Orchitectomy on Old people
I was castrated at age 71.
I had radiation for prostate cancer in 2006. It cured the cancer but caused collateral damage that went on for quite a while afterward. Rectal bleeding, blood in my urine & strictures in my urethra. My T levels slowly dropped to the high 100s. Somehow I still had enough ...

Re: Absent from Archive
WOW! That's some serious stuff you went through. Don't take those balance issues lightly.
I had a "minor" stroke sometime ago. The only reminder is an occasional feeling that I'm going to tip over if I turn to the side too quickly. I have to stop momentarily to catch my balance before moving on. I ...

Re: To Keep or Discard? What to do with an empty scrotum
I was castrated 2 1/2 yrs. ago. I asked the urologist about scrotum removal. He told me he could reduce it as part of the surgery but total removal was considered cosmetic and Medicare wouldn't cover it so I told him to take as much as he could. I'd say he took about 1/2. It still "gets in the way ...

Re: California Fires and Friends
We have family in Orange Co. They were among the lucky ones. They're all ok and lost nothing but relayed stories about folks close to them who weren't as fortunate. Friends who have horses told of the near panic getting all their horses to safe territory before the fires came. All the available ...

Are any of you California folks experiencing any effects from those disastrous wild fires? I've said a prayer or two for you and wish you all the best. God bless!

Re: Empty sac or no sac?
My urologist was willing to take the scrotum too but told me it was cosmetic and Medicare wouldn't cover it. He also said he could do a reduction without an extra charge so I opted for that. He took about half. I'd like to have the rest of it gone but my main goal was castration so I'll most likely ...

Re: After Castration the cords still palpable?
My urologist told me he cut them as high as he could. I could feel them for a while after the surgery but now I can't feel them even if I try to.

Re: Give No T a try
I was chemically castrated by Lupron for three years. I lost a lot of bone density, from normal to almost osteoporosis in less than 2 years. The first 6 months were pretty easy, though my male equipment shrank a lot. The next 6 months were rough, with onset of some depression due to a confluence ...
