Re: How many gays are there?

There are three types of lies.

Damned Lies

and Statistics

I was suspicious when I first read the number and now even more so after reading the methodology.

Basically, a set of complete strangers (the Gallop poll workers) called about 1000 other complete strangers and, at some point, asked ...

Re: Cure for sex addiction?

Re: Cold Fusion Achieved?

Cold fusion, if successful, would be one of the worlds "worst kept" secrets if it ever became viable. I don't believe this is the case hear, sadly.

Oil companies and other vested interested are NOT all powerful...though they may sometimes seem so. A technology like this or similar will be invented ...

The mind is a powerful thing folks and it loves connecting dots. I'm not sure I'm buying it.

I've been using the stuff off and on (economic reasons) for years. Trust me, if it effects libido, it ain't by much.

Overall though, I'd have to say the most this drug has ever really done is ...

Re: Ending a sentence with a preposition.

Good analysis by all. It reminds me of a stuff-shirt joke:

Minnesota kid does well in high school and gets to Harvard on full scholarship. He is walking around campus, disoriented, he asks a professor-looking type with a tweed jacket for some help,

"Sir, where's the library at?"

The professor ...

Re: You Control Your Emotions

I'm not aruguing that the body affects the mind and vice/versa. But I question the usefullness of such tools in the long run.

If our answer to pain, sadness, guilt and fear essentially becomes "keep your chin up" - then where are we really?

At the funeral of a loved one, should we practice smiling ...

Re: Star Trek Moments

They used Patrick Stewart's acting ability in an episode titled: THE INNER LIGHT

And it won a HUGO award.

The Inner Light was one of the best of the series.

Last year I saw a cable special on a Trek paraphanelia auction being sold ...

As a guy who has watched WAY to much Trek, as well as read books, played video games and, yes, even has board games based on the material let me help out here.

The Apollo episode was called "Who Mourns for Adaonais?"

On a similar note - I was wondering if the castrations in The Holy Mountain are implied or not?

Re: The *ultimate* castration in motion pictures thread

I have very slowly been uploading my collection of relevant clips to rapidshare and have started a webpage of links..

Downloaded and watched "young guy is cut voluntarily" aka "First Transmission". Gotta admit, this one looks like it could be real. ...then again, it's the Internet so who knows ...
